Georgetown County’s Anticipated RV Resort & Marina Could Break Ground in 2024

In Georgetown County, (South Carolina) anticipation builds as the Riverview Resort & Marina gears up for a potential groundbreaking in 2024.

The long-awaited RV resort, nestled between Georgetown and Andrews, promises to be a game-changer for local tourism and recreation, a report from Georgetown Times revealed.

Strategically located south of the intersection of Shadey Grove Lane and U.S. Highway 521, the resort is a testament to Georgetown County’s vision of blending luxury with nature. With amenities ranging from a state-of-the-art marina to a clubhouse, sports courts, and a mini-golf area, the resort aims to cater to diverse interests and age groups.

Beyond recreation, the Riverview Resort & Marina stands as a symbol of economic growth for the county. The 260-acre site, which underwent rezoning in 2021, is set to transform from a potential housing area to a recreational hub, potentially accommodating up to 700 RV lots. Each lot is designed with the modern traveler in mind, equipped with essential utilities and ample space for an additional vehicle and outdoor setup.

With the Sampit River in its vicinity, plans are underway to provide boating access and day storage, enhancing the marine experience for guests. A permit application with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is in the pipeline, aiming to build a 98-slip marina in two phases.

But what truly sets the resort apart is its proximity to other local attractions. The renowned 8 Oaks Park, a hotspot for tournaments, is just a mile away. Additionally, the upcoming Black River State Park promises to boost local tourism, making the resort a central attraction.

The Black River State Park, with its captivating blackwater river, is set to be another major draw for tourists. This river, originating from Bishopville and culminating in Winyah Bay, adds a touch of natural beauty to the county’s diverse landscape.

Local stakeholders, including businesses and residents, view the resort’s development with optimism. The potential economic impact, highlighted by an estimated tax revenue surpassing $130,000, underscores the resort’s significance for Georgetown County’s future.

The Riverview Resort & Marina embodies Georgetown County’s aspirations for growth, tourism, and prosperity. As preparations for the 2024 groundbreaking gain momentum, the county looks forward to welcoming a new era of recreation and economic development.
