The RV Industry Association (RVIA) has developed six standards to assist member manufacturers in the construction of safer RVs.
RVIA is recognized as an accredited standards developer approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), a non-profit association that establishes procedures and guidelines to create acceptable minimum safety standards for products used by the industry and consumers, as per RVIA’s News & Insights report.
ANSI sanctions standards have been created following accredited procedures which allow all materially and affected parties to have a voice in the development. One standard is the ANSI/RVIA EGS-1 Standard, setting forth safety requirements and standards for engine generator sets.
With the help of the ANSI procedure, RVIA recently updated this standard, which governs the installation, maintenance, and operation of generators in RVs.
The new 2022 edition of the ANSI/RVIA Engine Generator Sets for Recreational Vehicle Safety Requirements (EGS-1) Standard is now available for $30.00 for non-members and $25.00 for members per copy.
