The Jellystone Park Camp-Resort in Mt. Gilead, Ohio, received the Park of the Year award in the medium-size category from OHI. This honor recognizes campgrounds with 101 to 250 sites, highlighting exceptional achievements in the outdoor hospitality sector.
The Columbus-area resort, acquired by Great Escapes RV Resorts in 2021, underwent significant upgrades that contributed to its success. Enhancements included a resort-style pool, a beach with a floating obstacle course, and upscale glamping cabins introduced for the 2024 season. Other popular amenities include a water slide, train rides, a dog park, and Yogi Bear character interactions.
According to a press release, Rob Schutter, president of Camp Jellystone, the franchisor of the Jellystone Park brand, acknowledged the efforts of the Mt. Gilead team. “Great Escapes RV Resorts, along with many other Jellystone Park franchisees, is making innovative investments that are moving our brand and the entire outdoor hospitality industry forward. We congratulate Great Escapes RV Resorts and its Columbus North team on winning this award,” Schutter said.
The Mt. Gilead location was one of five Jellystone Park finalists in this year’s competition. Additional finalists in the medium-size park category included Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts in Milton, New Hampshire, and Wichita Falls, Texas.
Other Jellystone Park properties also achieved recognition. The Jellystone Park location in Waller, Texas, near Houston, was a finalist in the Large Park of the Year category, for campgrounds with 251 to 499 sites, as well as the Plan-It-Green Friendly Park of the Year category.
In Ohio, the Jellystone Park Clay’s Resort in North Lawrence, located outside of Cleveland, competed for OHI’s Mega Park of the Year award. This category acknowledges parks with more than 500 sites.
With more than 75 locations across the United States and Canada, Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts continue to attract families with a mix of recreational amenities, themed activities, and glamping-style accommodations. Partnerships with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences support these unique offerings.
