Caesar Ford Park Undergoes Campsite Development to Improve Outdoor Experience

Greene County Parks and Trails is nearing completion of an upgrade to Caesar Ford Park. The upgrade includes the addition of a new full campsite, to offer comprehensive amenities, including full-hookup sites.

The park, located in New Jasper Twp., east of Xenia, is set to introduce its Class A campground. This initial phase will introduce 12 full hookup camping sites, a picnic shelter, and a shower house. Horse trailer parking has been relocated to a new lot on New Jasper Station Road. In addition to the campground, phase two will expand the park’s capacity to about 38 camping sites.

Despite initial plans for a spring opening, adjustments in the project timeline have pushed the anticipated completion to Memorial Day weekend. Chuck Frazier, director of Greene County Parks and Trails, highlighted the uniqueness of this development. “We’re excited. It’s the first time in the history of the Parks Department to have a full, big campsite. We’ve had some primitive (camping) but never had a full campground. So this is a first for Greene County,” Frazier said, as quoted in a Dayton Daily News report.

The project’s first phase comes with a budget of approximately $3 million. The newly established sites are designed to accommodate both tent and RV campers, enhancing the versatility of the camping experience at Caesar Ford Park.

According to the parks’ website, disc golf enthusiasts have a new destination to explore at Caesar Ford, which now boasts a family-friendly, 18-hole disc golf course. Caesar Ford Park has expanded its recreational amenities with the addition of 10 miles of multi-purpose trails, providing a scenic route for mountain biking, horseback riding, and hiking enthusiasts. These newly installed trails enhance the park’s connectivity, linking seamlessly with the paved bike paths of the Xenia-Jamestown Connector.

Greene County Parks and Trails’ recent upgrades at Caesar Ford Park offer valuable insights for private RV park owners and campground operators looking to enhance their facilities. The introduction of a Class A campground with 12 full hookup camping sites and providing a mix of activities can appeal to different age groups.
