Fontana Village Resort Celebrates 82 Years of Outdoor Adventures and Classic American Travel

Fontana Village Resort & Marina, located in the heart of western North Carolina, has been offering a nostalgic getaway for 82 years, blending vintage charm with modern comforts. Situated near the Great Smoky Mountains, the resort draws inspiration from classic American travel, catering to both motorcyclists and outdoor enthusiasts. With its scenic location, Fontana Village is a destination for those seeking adventure and tranquility alike.

The resort serves as a basecamp for travelers exploring iconic American driving routes. Guests can tackle the thrilling Tail of the Dragon, which features 318 sharp curves, as well as other scenic roads like Moonshiner 28, Foothills Parkway, and Cherohala Skyway. Fontana Village also offers off-roading opportunities, with trails like Citico Creek Road and Parson Branch offering rugged terrain for adventurers.

According to a press release, Fontana Village has also become a destination for rallies, bike shows, and touring groups. The grounds provide extensive parking options, along with dedicated amenities such as on-site gas stations and car wash facilities. Recently, the resort added seven newly renovated cabins designed specifically for motorists. These cabins feature racks for helmets and leatherwear.

The resort also invites visitors to explore the waters surrounding it. With 240 miles of mountain lake shoreline, Fontana Village offers a range of aquatic activities. Guests can rent pontoon boats, enjoy watersports, or take a shuttle to explore remote corners of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park

For a more traditional experience, guests can take a pontoon tour aboard Miss Hazel. This tour is guided by an experienced captain who shares stories of the natural marvels and curiosities of the area, offering a throwback to the past.

Fontana Village also captures the essence of summer camp through its social atmosphere, featuring bonfires, live music, and outdoor movies. Guests at Fontana Village can explore the surrounding area. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Nantahala National Forest are nearby, while lesser-known sites like the crystal-clear waterfalls of Bee Cove offer additional opportunities for adventure.

Other facilities include an 18-hole mini-golf course, playgrounds, and sports courts for tennis, basketball, volleyball, and pickleball. The resort’s accommodations also cater to a range of preferences, including rooms and suites in The Lodge, pet-friendly cabins, an RV-friendly campground, and tent camping areas.
