Eugene T. Mahoney State Park Features Family Fun with Year-Round Activities

Eugene T. Mahoney State Park, located midway between Lincoln and Omaha, Nebraska, offers a year-round destination for families seeking outdoor and indoor recreational activities. The park, established along the Platte River, showcases an array of attractions, including hiking and biking trails, a treetop ropes course, and an observation tower.

Seasonal highlights such as indoor rock climbing, sledding, and ice skating provide entertainment regardless of weather conditions.

A central feature of the park is the activity center, catering to visitors of all ages. The activity center includes a large indoor playground with slides, net bridges, and a ball pit, allowing children to engage in physical activity while parents enjoy refreshments from on-site concessions. Complementing these offerings, the 42-foot Venture Climb indoor wall and a winter ice-skating pavilion create additional recreational options.

The state park also offers various lodging options. The Peter Kiewit Lodge features 40 guest rooms equipped with modern amenities, including private baths, wireless internet, and balconies overlooking the Platte River Valley. Sixteen rooms include sleeping lofts, while 24 boast walkout decks, ensuring a variety of options for guests.

For those seeking more secluded accommodations, Mahoney State Park provides 60 cabins situated on wooded ridgetops. Cabin sizes range from two to six bedrooms, making them suitable for couples or extended family gatherings. Each cabin is fully equipped with heating, air conditioning, a fireplace, and an outdoor deck.

Camping opportunities also abound at Mahoney State Park, with 148 sites spread across two main campgrounds: Lakeside and Little Creek. Campers can choose from full hookup, electric, or tentable sites, many of which are located near amenities such as playgrounds, basketball courts, and restrooms.

Tent campers also have access to grassy areas adjacent to their reserved pads. Amenities like drinking water, showers, and a conveniently located dump station enhance the camping experience.
