Roaring River State Park has reopened Campground 3, introducing new full hookup campsites just in time for the upcoming trout fishing season.
Missouri State Parks, a division of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, announced that reservations for these sites are now available for stays between Feb. 25 and Oct. 31. Campground 1 remains open year-round, while the others close after Nov. 1.
According to an article published by Springfield Daily Citizen, the new full hookup campsites in Campground 3 are situated parallel to the river, offering convenient access to fishing areas. These open spaces feature concrete pads with minimal tree coverage, each equipped with a picnic table and fire pit. The upgrades aim to enhance the camping experience for visitors, providing improved amenities.
Roaring River State Park, located about 90 minutes southwest of Springfield, is known for its trout fishing, hiking trails, and camping facilities.
The park includes three campground areas with a total of 186 campsites. Before the upgrades, 42 of the sites in Campground 3 were basic with no hookups, while the remaining sites across the park offered only electric connections.
The completed construction has transformed 30 of these basic sites into full hookup options, leaving 12 basic sites without hookups for visitors who prefer a simpler camping experience.
The full hookup campsites now provide sewer, water, and electric connections, which are expected to appeal to a wide range of campers, from RV enthusiasts to families looking for added convenience.
Tent campers can also reserve any site, including those with full hookups, ensuring flexibility for various camping preferences.
The pricing for nightly campsite stays has also been updated. Starting Feb. 25, basic sites are $16 per night, while 30 AMP electric sites are $28 and 50 AMP electric sites are $30.
Full hookup sites, which include sewer, electric, and water connections, are priced at $36 per night. Family sites, which feature two camping pads together, range from $29 for basic to $53 for 50 AMP electric.
