Kampgrounds of America (KOA) announced the addition of the Webster/Douglas Forest KOA Journey in Webster, Massachusetts, marking the campground’s return to the KOA network after previously operating as a KOA property in the 1990s.
The campground’s current owners acquired the property in 2023 and have since redeveloped and modernized the park, according to a May 6 announcement from KOA.
The project is expected to support outdoor tourism and economic activity in the Webster area through new campground amenities and planned site expansions.
Located beside Douglas State Forest, the campground provides access to hiking, biking and other outdoor recreation opportunities. The property is also near Webster Lake, a regional bass fishing destination, and attractions including Indian Ranch concerts, the Brimfield Antique Flea Market and several historic New England towns. Boston is approximately 40 minutes away.
“We’re excited to bring the Webster / Douglas Forest campground back into the KOA family and continue building a welcoming place for travelers and families to experience the outdoors,” the owners of the Webster/Douglas Forest KOA Journey said in a statement.
“This property has a long history as a camping destination, and we’re committed to continued investment in the campground, so guests can enjoy the beauty of the surrounding forest while supporting the local community and businesses in Webster,” the owners added.
The campground currently offers pull-through and back-in RV sites, along with tent camping sites in a wooded setting. Existing amenities include Wi-Fi, a seasonal swimming pool, playground, pavilion, KampK9 dog park, laundry facilities, propane service and a campground store.
Additional amenities planned for the property include a gem mining sluice and expanded recreation areas. The owners also plan to add 40 pull-through RV sites with 50-amp electrical service as part of a future expansion project.
KOA cited findings from its annual Camping and Outdoor Hospitality Report showing campers contributed $66 billion to local economies in 2025, with average daily camper spending exceeding $200.
The report also found 33% of campers expressed interest in visiting small towns, while 38% said historic sites were a travel draw.
The Webster/Douglas Forest KOA Journey, located at 106 Douglas Road, operates seasonally from April 1 through October 31. The campground joins more than 500 KOA campgrounds across the United States and Canada.
