Beaver Brook Golf Course Owners Lodge 50-Site Campground Proposal

Beaver Brook Golf Course (Massachusetts) owners are seeking permission to build a campground with up to 50 sites on the property, which has gained opposition from a few town residents.

As per a report, Beaver Brook’s owners Chris and Rosana Duval have applied for a special permit with the town’s Zoning Board of Appeals under the name Equinox Partners LLC.

The seasonal campground will be situated at multiple locations within the same site as the golf course at 183 Main Road and will be equipped with electricity and water, according to the application.

The application also stated that in the event that the permit is granted, Equinox Partners would surrender a separate special permit for a self-storage facility on the property.

A change.org online petition to oppose the campground, which was initiated by a local homeowner Kyle Rodd, has already garnered around 115 signatories as of Monday afternoon.

“No other local campground is located on as busy a roadway or in such close proximity to neighbors: this construction would take place on private property, but its impacts would ripple outwards well beyond the property line,” reads part of the petition.

Rodd as well as his wife, Alexandra Pinschmidt, have also created a paper petition against the campground.

Pinschmidt declared that all of her neighbors who live on Solar Circle have either signed the petition or have expressed their verbal opposition to the project.

We love camping,” said Pinschmidt, while also asserting that the area is not an “appropriate place for a campsite.

“It’s very close to residential property,” she said.

Rodd estimates that the proposed tent camping area would be around 600 feet from their doors, he cited concerns on noise pollution and other factors that will impact the neighborhood.

“Our hope is that the Zoning Board rejects the proposal,” Rodd said.

However, Rodd said he’s hoping that the meeting will stay kind and communicative.
