Louisiana’s outdoor recreation landscape is expanding with the transformation of the former LeBleu Lakes RV Resort near Lake Charles into a new Jellystone Park campground. This development joins an existing location in Robert, enhancing the state’s camping offerings. The Lake Charles site plans to provide a range of accommodations, including RV sites and cabin rentals, along with day passes for visitors to access amenities without staying overnight.
The campground’s planned amenities include a splash pad, waterslides, and mini-golf, with future additions such as a simulated gem mining experience, a resort-style pool, a water obstacle course, and an entertainment stage. These features are part of ongoing renovations and are not yet fully operational.
“I want to do something in my community [where] we can bring families together,” said Sean Vidrine, the property owner, sharing his personal connection to the project with KPLC TV. “When my children were little, we used to come out here and run a cabin and come for Halloween, so this is kind of a special thing for us to bring this park back to life and for the families that will now get to experience that as well.”
According to 97.3 The Dawg, the new Jellystone Park in Lake Charles is scheduled to open next summer and is designed to operate year-round. The park aims to create a comprehensive family vacation experience, featuring themed events, wagon rides, and character appearances. This development represents a significant investment in the region’s outdoor recreation sector, potentially attracting visitors from beyond the local community.
This expansion of Jellystone Park into Lake Charles underscores the growing demand for family-oriented outdoor recreation options. By transforming the former LeBleu Lakes Resort, the new park will offer an updated space for both local and out-of-state visitors.
The addition of attractions like the water obstacle course and live entertainment further enhances the park’s appeal, ensuring a memorable experience for campers of all ages. With its blend of outdoor adventure and family-friendly amenities, Lake Charles Jellystone Park is set to become another draw for the region’s tourism and hospitality industry.
