Kampgrounds of America (KOA) announced Dave and Heather Jones as the new owners of the Corbin/Laurel Lake KOA Journey in Kentucky.
The couple, experienced RV enthusiasts who have spent years traveling across the country, brings a practical and guest-focused approach to their new roles. Their transition into campground ownership reflects their passion for camping and dedication to providing exceptional hospitality experiences.
Situated atop a wooded hill, the Corbin/Laurel Lake KOA Journey is a favorite among campers due to its proximity to Laurel Lake and Cumberland Falls State Resort Park, home to the unique “Moonbow.”
The campground has long served as a welcoming retreat for outdoor enthusiasts, offering shaded campsites beneath mature trees, modern amenities, and convenient access to regional attractions. The Joneses aim to build on this legacy by introducing upgrades and enhancements to the property.
“We’re thrilled to begin this journey as the new owners of the Corbin/Laurel Lake KOA Journey,” Dave Jones said.
“As seasoned RVers, we know what it takes to create a great camping experience, and we’re excited to offer our campers upgraded facilities and new amenities designed to enhance their stays. From updated playgrounds and fresh landscaping to new patio sites, we’re committed to creating a welcoming, family-friendly environment.”
Under their leadership, the campground has already begun to see significant improvements. Upgrades include cabin renovations with new decks, doors, windows, lighting, and playground enhancements like eco-friendly mulch and a jump pad.
Plans are in place to introduce a gem mining water feature by February and additional amenities such as new picnic tables, fire pits, patio furniture, and expanded RV sites with patio upgrades.
The economic impact of campgrounds like Corbin/Laurel Lake KOA Journey extends to the local community. According to KOA’s annual Camping and Outdoor Hospitality Report, campers contribute an average of $156 per day to local economies.
