Iowans were out to celebrate Memorial Day weekend at Big G’s Campground in Delhi, according to a report.
The campground was almost fully booked six months in advance, something to account for campers’ excitement to go outside for the weekend, said Big G’s Tana Guetzkale.
“It’s to do something other than be in front of a TV, in front of a Game Boy, or just in front of computers,” Guetzkale said. “It’s good to get fresh air. To get active.”
Throughout Memorial Day weekend, guests at the campground participated in events like Goodwill bingo, a talent show, and a dog show with over 35 contestants.
The Big G’s community is one of the main reasons campers keep returning to the campground.
“Grant and Tana are great hosts they always have events going on, and they’re just great people here,” said Joanne Knipper, whose family has been coming to the camp for three years. “Everyone’s happy, they love the camp, you’re outdoors.”
A similar fun weekend awaits Big G’s campers for the 4th of July celebration.
