650-Site Fox Bluff Brings Glamping Destination to Yorkville

A former Yorkville campsite, now called Fox Bluff, has undergone significant improvements under Lance Beatch’s ownership, making it a place for recreational activities and a family-friendly glamping destination.

Located at 8045 Van Emmon Road, the property, formerly known as Hide-A-Way-Lakes, underwent substantial changes after Beatch purchased it in December 2020. To revitalize the property, Beatch removed 225 RV trails and relocated 80 to 90 people with assistance from the Kendall County Health Department.

According to its website, Fox Bluff now boasts 650 RV sites, 1.5 miles of waterfront along the Fox River and Morgan Creek, and eight renovated cottages. The site features a resort-style pool, a 20-person hot tub, cabanas, and sports courts. Other amenities include a playground, social house, fun house, renovated bathhouse, and laundry facilities. More than $2 million was invested in these upgrades to enhance the guest experience.

Another feature of Fox Bluff is its recreational amenities. In its Town Square, guests can enjoy basketball, pickleball, and sand volleyball courts. Additionally, Fox Bluff features trails, including those at the neighboring Saw Wee Kee Park, which has additional riverfront access and multiple ponds and creekfront sites.

The improvements have paid off, with Fox Bluff welcoming new seasonal guests in the last 13 months. Guests typically stay for about six months, with an average price of $4,500. Beatch also plans to install a second pickleball court and upgrade utilities and electricity across the property.

“Gaining 101 new seasonal guests in the last 13 months is pretty awesome, and in fact, it’s almost unprecedented in this business,” Beatch said, as reported by Shaw Local News Network on June 11.

Beatch noted that everyone is very excited about the improvements and the direction of the property. “Everybody has always commented on how pretty the property has been,” Beatch said.

In addition to Fox Bluff, Beatch acquired Pearl Lake Beach in April 2023. Located at 1220 Dearborn Ave., South Beloit, this site features a 50-acre clear blue lake, an 8-acre beach, and 339 RV sites. The property includes 24 waterfront sites, a clubhouse with an indoor bar, and opportunities for live music.
