Blue Water Buys 2 Marinas

Blue Water has recently acquired Pier Point Marina in Dewey Beach, Delaware and Captain Bob’s Marina in Chincoteague, Virginia.

The company plans to improve the marinas “while still upholding the traditions these properties have developed for more than 60 years, with both waterfront properties,” as per a release.

Pier Point Marina, located near The Bay Resort Waterfront Hotel, another Blue Water property, is a full-service marina constructed in the 1950s. It is a family-owned business managed by the Pier Point Family Partnership since 1966.

The dock was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy, a major storm in 2012. The family built it again in 2013.

When Pier Point’s owners put the company up for bid, Blue Water agreed to retain the 35 slips, boat ramp, and boat hoist. They also agreed to preserve six jet ski docks and other amenities. Blue Water Co-Founders Jack and Todd Burbage said they have been working with the Town of Dewey Beach on discussions for the redevelopment.

“This family-owned business has been a staple of Dewey Beach on the Rehoboth Bay for over 60 years,” said Burbage, Blue Water‘s CEO. “A lot of love and care has been put into this marina to keep it up and running over the years. Blue Water is honored to carry on that tradition of service and reliability and apply our signature style of management to this integral part of the fishing, boating, and water enthusiast culture of Dewey Beach.”

Blue Water has also acquired Captain Bob’s Marina. It is located on Main Street in Chincoteague. It is just a few minutes away from Blue Water‘s Chincoteague Island KOA, Fairfield Inn & Suites Chincoteague Island Waterfront, Maui Jack’s Waterpark, and a new development project, Sun Outdoors Chincoteague Bay

The marina has been in operation since 1960. It offers a variety of activities like fishing, crabbing, and clamming charters. There are also crabbing docks and nature and pony cruises.

Though still in the early planning stage, Blue Water plans to maintain the facilities while adding new services.
