Outdoor Hospitality News

For owners, operators, team members, and anyone else interested in camping, glamping, or the RV industry.

Huttopia Opens Its First West Coast Resort.

Family-owned resort company Huttopia has long been a favorite of outdoor lovers and adventure enthusiasts all over the world, and now they’re off to California with their first west coast location.

Huttopia Paradise Springs, which is known as the “perfect escape for urban-dwellers who love the wilderness” and is located in the middle of the Angeles National Forest in San Gabriel Mountains, is just 90 minutes from Los Angeles.

Celine Bossanne, the co-founder of Huttopia Paradise Spring, shared the news via a statement. “We have been following Southern California for a long time. We feel that Paradise Springs, a unique oasis-like setting in the desert region, will bring a lot of fresh air to visitors. We hope to make the area our U.S. flagship property with its historic past and iconic location.

There are 135 acres of private forest available for guests to explore. The camp was once the location of the “Paradise Mountain Resort” and the “Trout Club”, a former prohibition-era retreat.

Huttopia claims that the club was owned and operated by Noah Beery and Wallace Beery, actor-brothers. The resort was a popular retreat for Hollywood’s elite, who “escaped to the starlit desert for indulgence beyond what the authorities and fans could see.” It was home to stars such as Charlie Chaplin, Gloria Swanson, and John Wayne. Chaplin built a cabin on the property that is still in use today.

Huttopia Paradise Springs is offering guests the opportunity to stay in 12 glamping tents made of wood and canvas. Additional lodging will be available for the 2022 season. Every tent will have electricity, bed linen, and the possibility of having a private bathroom or camp kitchen. The tents will have an enclosed deck as well as an outdoor area with a grill and lounge.

On the property, guests have access to miles of hiking and nearby fishing as well as the opportunity to take a dip at the creek. The property will open in August and be open seasonally through November. Rates start at $210/night
