Benton Makes its Largest Land Purchase for Recreational Area Development

According to a local news report, Benton, a city located in Arkansas, has made its largest land purchase in history for the benefit of its residents.

Mayor Tom Farmer signed off on the purchase of 511 acres of land for $7.5 million, located near the Haskell exit along the Saline River.

The purchase will take place in 10 installments over the next decade, and the plan is to include the land in the city limits and transform it into a recreational area with amenities such as an RV park, soccer complex, trails, disc golf and more.

Mayor Farmer emphasized the importance of providing a variety of activities with the recreational land to improve the quality of life for residents.

Gary James with Benton Chamber of Commerce hopes the project will attract more people to the city and calls it a “good community” effort.

The total investment in the project is expected to be around $30-40 million over the next 20 years.

Some residents, such as Will Garner, who has lived next to the land for 26 years, look forward to the changes.

Garner acknowledges the need to adapt to change, and is happy with the positive impact the purchase will have on the community.

The land purchase marks a significant milestone for Benton’s growth and development, providing residents with more opportunities for recreational activities and an improved quality of life.

The purchase of 511 acres of land by the city of Benton, Arkansas, and its eventual development into a recreational area with amenities such as an RV park, soccer complex, trails, disc golf, and more is great news for outdoor hospitality and recreation.

The addition of an RV park will provide a new location for campers to enjoy the great outdoors and explore the surrounding area.

This new facility will create more opportunities for people to experience the beauty of the region while enjoying comfortable and convenient accommodations.

The creation of trails and disc golf courses will provide additional opportunities for outdoor recreation, attracting visitors who enjoy hiking and other outdoor activities.

This will not only benefit the local community but also draw visitors from other areas, boosting the local economy.

I’m curious about how Benton plans to keep the new recreational area eco-friendly and maintain the natural charm of the Saline River space. It’d be cool to know more about the partnerships in the works to ensure this project’s success and how they intend to involve the community. Can’t wait to see the positive changes and enjoy the new recreational spot in Benton!
