The 2021 Overland Expo West was held recently in Flagstaff, Arizona. The third of three consumer-oriented events this year brought about 30,000 attendees to learn about four-wheeler rigs, tires, coolers, tow kits, and everything else that people put into their cars to improve their outdoor adventures, a report said.
Overland Expo Mountain West took place in Loveland, Colorado, in August while Overland Expo East is scheduled for Oct. 8-10 in Arrington, Virginia.
An area was dedicated to the stunning show vehicles, savvy conversion companies, and expedition tour companies.
Out of the 400 exhibitors, the companies that typically share a commonality with the traditional outdoor sector were also present throughout the event, such as Sea to Summit, Snow Peak, Kokopelli, Luno, Gaia GPS, Camp Chef, and Dometic.
“Overlanders identify as so many different things,” said Lindsay Hubley, who owns Overland Expo with her sister, Jessica Kirchner. “They’re campers, they’re offroaders, they’re adventure travelers. There’s so many different segments that pull people into the community.”
The term “overlanding” has expanded over time. However, it has been particularly broadened since the onset of the pandemic when people were seeking new experiences in the natural world, Hubley said. While it is a self-sufficient form of travel, it also overlaps with those who use Jeeps in the dirt or ride bikes to campsites all over the United States.
The market also associates with any person who operates vehicles for their outdoor activities like the van-dwellers, tent campers, RV campers, truck campers, bikepackers, and weekend warriors who prefer to spend the night under the stars with their family at their state-run campground.
Based on multiple sources that have collected data about the larger market for outdoor activities, the overlanding industry is also set to grow. 7.1 million more Americans took part in 2020 than in the previous year, according to Outdoor Industry Association.
