Ty Gwyn, a third-generation holiday park operator based in Abergele, has reported strong early demand following the opening of its newly acquired Fishpool Holiday Park in Delamere, Cheshire, with all available lodges, caravans, and touring pitches booked during the first two weeks of May.
The opening came after Ty Gwyn completed the acquisition of the Fishpool site and carried out a two-month redevelopment program aimed at upgrading the park’s accommodations and infrastructure ahead of the summer season.
The work included the installation of new lodges and caravans, landscaping improvements, a redesigned entrance, and the construction of a new internal road network. The company also added a wildflower meadow and a dog walking area as part of the redevelopment.
Rhodri Owen, a director of Ty Gwyn, told North Wales Pioneer: “We were delighted with the demand for bookings for our opening couple of weeks, something that is continuing into bookings for the rest of the summer.”
“We know from chatting to some of our customers that they have made the decision to holiday in the UK due to all the uncertainty that has surrounded foreign travel since the outbreak of the conflict in the Middle East, along with wider cost of living concerns.
“All of the lodges, caravans and touring pitches we made available for our opening were booked out and we are now working hard to get the remainder of the site open as soon as possible.”
“We had a relatively small window from completing the purchase to opening, but we have achieved a lot in a short space of time to transform the holiday park both in terms of the accommodation available and the visual appearance of the site.”
“We will be undertaking further works over the coming weeks and have more new lodges and caravans arriving for guests to enjoy over the summer.”
“We are keen to hear from people interested in securing seasonal touring pitches and those who may want to find out about buying their own lodge or caravan at Fishpool.”
The project reflects a wider trend across the UK holiday park sector, where operators continue to invest in domestic tourism offerings amid ongoing demand for staycations. Industry businesses have increasingly focused on upgrading accommodations, adding sustainability features, and expanding guest amenities as consumers seek alternatives to overseas travel.
At Fishpool Holiday Park, sustainability initiatives formed part of the redevelopment strategy. The park’s lodges are supplied by Victory Leisure Homes, with some units incorporating solar power systems. Energy supplier CamGas is providing the site with 20% BIO LPG, a renewable fuel produced from waste residues and plant materials that the company says can reduce carbon emissions compared to conventional fossil fuels.
The park has also installed a dual electric vehicle charging point near the entrance, allowing up to four vehicles to charge simultaneously at speeds of up to 22kW.
Ty Gwyn has partnered with Sykes Cottages to manage bookings and Godfrey Group to oversee housekeeping services as operations expand ahead of the peak summer season.
Located near Delamere Forest and the Sandstone Trail, Fishpool Holiday Park is positioned to attract visitors seeking access to walking and cycling routes as well as nearby hospitality businesses, including pubs, restaurants, and farm shops.
For operators in the outdoor hospitality sector, the project highlights how rapid redevelopment timelines, sustainability-focused infrastructure, and partnerships with external service providers are increasingly being used to accelerate market entry and meet changing guest expectations.
