Ocean City, Maryland-based outdoor hospitality specialist, Blue Water partnered with the Chincoteague Chamber of Commerce to host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Sun Outdoors Chesapeake Bay on Wednesday, July 13, which honored the renaming of the family-friendly resort destination in Temperanceville.

Formerly Tall Pines Harbor Campground, Sun Outdoors Chesapeake Bay is immensely popular for its waterfront recreation with private beach access on the Pocomoke Sound.

Guests who attended the event enjoyed a meet and greet with officials from the property and Blue Water, in addition to members of the Chincoteague Chamber of Commerce.

Following the ceremony, guests were treated to tour the property and had the opportunity to partake in various activities on the beach and in the splash park, both signature features of the resort.

Among those in attendance were Blue Water CEO Todd Burbage, Sun Outdoors Chesapeake Bay General Manager Rusty Stone, Evelyn Shotwell, Executive Director, and Joanne Moore, Marketing & Event Coordinator from the Chincoteague Chamber of Commerce.

“There has been a rich history of generational camping experiences at Sun Outdoors Chesapeake Bay, and we are excited to continue that tradition with many new and exciting features as we transition into a new era,” said Rusty Stone, General Manager of Sun Outdoors Chesapeake Bay. “The team at Blue Water is passionate about providing outstanding customer service for its guests while also enhancing the amenities that the resort has become known for over the years, and we are thrilled to be a part of it.”

Sun Outdoors Chesapeake Bay has become a popular destination for its numerous amenities, which consist of a zero-entry pool, splash park, and activities and themed events, including live entertainment.

The resort is just minutes from recreation at Chincoteague and Assateague Island, as well as Maui Jack’s Waterpark. Sun Outdoors Chesapeake Bay offers camping and glamping options with 264 sites, including RV sites, tent sites, and new additions of safari tents and deluxe cottages.

Safari tents are outfitted with two bedrooms, a mini-refrigerator, microwave, water hookup outside, living room, and deck. Deluxe cottages, which sleep up to six people, offer air conditioning/heat, stocked kitchens, a private bathroom with showers, two bedrooms, living/dining area, and a screened porch. Site amenities for both the safari tents and deluxe cottages include a fire ring and WiFi. They are both pet-friendly as well.
