Family-run Riverside Caravan Park in Bentham, located in the Yorkshire Dales near the market town of Bentham, has been recognized on the 2026 Outstanding Sites list published by Campsites.co.uk, an annual recognition based on guest reviews submitted through the online booking platform.
The annual Outstanding Sites list highlights camping, touring, and glamping destinations across the United Kingdom that have consistently received positive feedback from visitors. The recognition is based on customer reviews, reflecting guest experiences across a range of accommodation types and park facilities.
Situated along the River Wenning, Riverside Caravan Park was established nearly 60 years ago by the Marshall family as a traditional camping site. Over the decades, the business has expanded its accommodations to include holiday caravans and lodges available for rent or purchase, glamping accommodations, and pitches for motorhomes, touring caravans, and tents.
Guest reviews on Campsites.co.uk have highlighted the park’s surroundings, peaceful setting, and maintained facilities as factors contributing to positive visitor experiences. The recognition places Riverside among a group of parks acknowledged by the platform for maintaining consistently favorable ratings from guests throughout the review period.
Thomas Marshall, who operates Riverside Caravan Park alongside his wife Jane, daughter Isabel, and son John, told the Lancaster Guardian that the recognition reflects the experiences shared by visitors.
“This award is especially important to us because it is based on the reviews of people who have stayed at Riverside and clearly enjoyed their experiences,” said Thomas.
“Families and couples are not judging us just on our quality standards, but also for the welcoming atmosphere and friendly service which they receive.
“Delivering this is very much in the hands of our park team, so they must take a big share of the credit for our place on the Outstanding Sites list.
“We would like to extend a big thank you to everyone who contributed to these great reviews and helped us achieve this fantastic outcome.”
Martin Smith, the founder of Campsites.co.uk, also commented on the recognition.
“It’s fantastic to see Riverside delivering such a great experience for their guests and this award is our way of celebrating their consistent hard work.”
In addition to its inclusion on the 2026 Outstanding Sites list, Riverside Caravan Park holds Gold ratings from both VisitEngland and the AA and is a member of the Holiday and Residential Parks Association (HARPA).
For operators across the outdoor hospitality sector, awards based on verified guest reviews continue to serve as an indicator of customer satisfaction and operational consistency. As travelers increasingly rely on online reviews when selecting campgrounds, holiday parks, RV destinations, and glamping accommodations, maintaining high service standards, well-maintained facilities, and responsive guest engagement can strengthen a property’s reputation and influence future bookings.
Recognition from review-based platforms may also support marketing efforts by providing independent validation of the guest experience, particularly in a competitive marketplace where consumer trust and online visibility play an increasingly important role in travel decisions.
