Lost Shore Surf Resort Opens with Adaptive Surfing, Luxury Accommodations

After a decade in development, the Lost Shore Surf Resort opened its doors to the. Conceived by founder Andy Hadden, the resort aims to provide a premier surfing destination complemented by high-quality dining and luxury accommodations.

Built on a former quarry site, the £60 million development incorporates advanced wave technology from WaveGarden and new facilities, including restaurants, cafés, and an event space. The resort marks Scotland’s first inland surf destination, boasting the country’s most advanced wave pool.

Situated near the Edinburgh International Climbing Arena, the resort offers more than 20 types of waves, catering to surfers of all skill levels. Visitors can also experience surf skating, a land-based activity mimicking ocean surfing.

The resort doubles as a wellness destination, featuring adaptive surfing sessions through The Wave Project. These surf therapy programs aim to support the mental health and well-being of young people.

Hadden, who has a background in property development, expressed his excitement at the project’s completion. “I am delighted today. This has been a long journey for me and also other businesses… This could be the training ground for Scotland’s next Olympic surfing champion.”

Professional surfer Ben Larg, from Tiree sponsored by Red Bull, praised the resort after testing its waves. “I grew up on Tiree which is one of the best places to learn to surf, but this is now the best place to learn. I am sure I will be here all the time. I think it will be a great training facility for Scottish surfers and for people who want to get into surfing,” he said, as reported by The Edinburgh Reporter.

According to its website, the Waterfront Pods at Lost Shore Surf Resort offer a luxurious stay, featuring a king-size bed, underfloor heating, and controllable ventilation for ultimate comfort. 

Designed with premium fittings and fixtures, these pods include smart technology features such as touchscreen and app-based controls, mood lighting, and a wet room with a toilet. Guests can enjoy modern conveniences like a fridge, an Opal One pod coffee machine, and a hairdryer.
