Llandudno has been celebrated as the premier holiday destination in Wales, securing the top spot in the country and ranking sixth across the UK in the latest study by GO Outdoors.
Known as the ‘Queen of Welsh Resorts,’ this Victorian seaside town in Conwy has earned an impressive overall score of 8.9 out of 10, distinguishing itself among the nation’s favorite getaways.
The experts at GO Outdoors conducted comprehensive research, analyzing various factors including hotel quality, range of activities, local transport, weather, and popularity. Their findings positioned Llandudno as the best destination in Wales and highlighted its strengths, particularly in the abundance of hotel choices and local activities.
“Llandudno stands out for its exceptional hotel options and the variety of activities available to visitors,” said a representative from GO Outdoors, as quoted in a NorthWalesLive report.
The town’s attractions include the historic pier, scenic cable car rides, a ski slope, and a popular climbing wall. Families can also enjoy the paddling pool, with further adventures awaiting in the nearby Eryri (Snowdonia) mountains and at adrenaline-packed venues like Zip World.
Despite its high marks, Llandudno’s ranking was slightly affected by its rainfall, a factor beyond the control of local tourism officials. Nevertheless, its appeal remains strong, especially for family holidays, where it ranked first in Wales and fourth in the UK.
The diverse range of activities ensures there is something for everyone, from leisurely seaside strolls to thrilling outdoor pursuits.
While Llandudno’s North Shore may lack a sandy beach, nearby West Shore, Rhos-on-Sea, and Colwyn Bay offer lovely sandy alternatives. These options ensure that beachgoers can still find their perfect spot to relax by the sea.
In addition to Llandudno’s accolades, Gwynedd also received recognition in the camping category, being named the top camping destination in Wales and tenth in the UK. The region boasts some of the most picturesque campsites, including Shell Island, one of the largest campsites in Europe.
As Llandudno basks in its well-deserved recognition, the town continues to attract visitors with its charm, scenic beauty, and plethora of activities. This latest accolade from GO Outdoors cements its status as a must-visit destination, offering a blend of historic appeal and modern amenities that cater to all types of travelers.
