The Scandinavian campsite market is about to undergo a major shift, as Swedish firm First Camp announced its acquisition of Danish campsite chain CampOne.
The deal will bring two of the region’s most well-known campsite chains under one roof, as First Camp already owns nine different campsite destinations in Denmark, according to a report by Camping Trade World.
The acquisition will see First Camp add four of CampOne’s sites to its network, which between them bring a combined annual turnover of $4.5 million.
The fifth CampOne destination in Assens Strand, however, will remain under the ownership of Per and Gitte Blaabjerg but under a new brand name.
The acquisition is expected to be finalized by March or April 2023. First, Camp CEO Johan Söör stated that the company’s future plans and developments would be based on input from the campsite guests.
Söör added that it would be “business as usual” with the retention of the CampOne brand name during the summer of 2023.
CampOne’s Per and Gitte Blaabjerg said that their choice of First Camp as the new owner ensures that CampOne will remain in the hands of an owner with strong capital, extensive experience, and excellent opportunities to further develop the campsite chain.
The couple thanked all of their guests who had visited their campsites and stated that without them, their wonderful journey would never have been possible.
This acquisition is a significant step for First Camp in expanding its reach in the Scandinavian campsite market as the company adds well-managed and popular destinations to its network.
The acquisition also gives First Camp access to CampOne’s loyal customer base, who have been visiting the campsites since the very start in 1992.
As the camping industry continues to grow in popularity, this acquisition is poised to have a significant impact on the Scandinavian market.
With First Camp’s strong capital, extensive experience, and commitment to preserving CampOne’s legacy, the acquisition is expected to drive the growth of both companies in the coming years.
