CARAVAN SALON Düsseldorf 2024, taking place from August 30 to September 8, is an upcoming event for the caravanning industry, showcasing the latest models and innovations. With over 750 exhibitors across 16 halls, this global event is a platform for industry professionals and enthusiasts alike.
Director Stefan Koschke emphasized its significance, stating that Düsseldorf will become “the center of the caravanning world” during the event.
According to a press release, caravanning, known for offering “freedom and individuality,” remains a choice among travelers. The industry caters to this demand by offering a wide range of vehicle layouts and furnishing options.
Daniel Onggowinarso, managing director of the Caravanning Industry Association (CIVD), highlighted the industry’s ability to meet these needs, noting that almost every aspect of a vehicle can be customized.
“The possibilities of adapting motorhomes or caravans to one’s wishes and needs are enormous. Almost every facet of a vehicle can be designed individually while the comprehensive range of furnishings and accessories fulfills even the highest demands made on functionality and comfort. This extraordinary flexibility and broad product portfolio are hallmarks of the caravanning industry and are therefore particularly close to the hearts of holidaymakers,” Onggowinarso explained.
The market for motorhomes and caravans has also expanded in recent years, offering an extensive selection of models to suit various preferences, the press release explained. Caravans, known for their spacious living and flexibility, are popular among those seeking a comfortable holiday experience. The wide range of caravan models now available appeals to diverse groups, including sports enthusiasts and other specialized users.
Additionally, motorhomes are experiencing growth, with traditional models such as alcove, semi-integrated, and fully integrated motorhomes being joined by increasingly popular campervans.
Campervans, in particular, have become the fastest-growing segment due to their compact design and suitability for everyday use. The driving experience in modern motorhomes is nearly identical to that of a standard car, making them accessible to newcomers.
Interior design trends in caravans and motorhomes have also evolved to meet the changing demands of customers. Today, bright, natural colors and wood tones dominate interior spaces, reflecting a desire for “stylish, modern living environments.”
Multifunctional designs, such as folding beds and adjustable workspaces, also maximize the use of limited space, while technological advancements, like smartphone control of onboard systems, have become standard.
The growing trend toward self-sufficiency in caravanning is also driven by a desire for more independent travel experiences. Many enthusiasts seek out remote RV parks and campsites, away from crowded tourist areas, and this has led to an increased demand for features such as additional battery packs and solar panels. Four-wheel-drive motorhomes are also gaining popularity, enabling travelers to reach more remote locations.
