Outwell Expands Drive-Away Awning Line Model For Outdoor Adventurers

Danish Camping brand Outwell has introduced two new drive-away awnings as well as an incredibly versatile tarp in the Active Collection in a bid to cater to the needs of the ever-growing market of campervans that are used for adventure.

The latest models are designed to be lightweight and have compact sizes for packs and provide excellent performance for those who use campervans, vans, and small SUVs that want to blend camping with outdoor activities, according to a report by Camping Trade World.

First of all, the brand new Outwell launch, called the Dunecrest, builds on the success of Sandcrest. Sandcrest was designed to fit smaller vehicles, such as the Citroen Berlingo model and the Volkswagen Caddy.

The Dunecrest gives an area for living in the rear with the ability to detach the groundsheet with an innovative connection to the rear wheels and the rear passenger’s grab handles. The Vehicle Attachment System helps keep the vehicle’s doors open from guylines while allowing the barn or tailgate to be opened or closed by affixed awnings.

A large mesh window with an insulated curtain inside the front door allows for better ventilation and protection from the rain. The door can also serve as a sun canopy with optional King poles.

The second awning of this collection is the Shalecrest, a freestanding awning ideal for hard surfaces. It also pitches on the side of a campervan using outwell’s Link Access Zone, which can also be used as a place where wet clothing and muddy boots can be kept out of the living area.

The Shalecrest has large windows and waterproof curtains that zip shut to improve the airflow. The doors to the fabric and window can be removed entirely for stunning views. They can also be interchanged to customize the space to your specific needs.

Including the HookTrack System in the living space allows for lights and other small objects to be easily placed where needed, and a groundsheet sewn-in ensures that the living space is protected. It is lowered on the door to avoid falling or tripping. It can also be zipped up if additional protection from insect infestations or water ingress is needed.

Outwell has also launched an updated tarp called the Upcrest which can quickly provide protection and privacy to the rear of a car.

The new models all feature an established and tried Outtex 3000 Select polyester fabric and are enhanced with alloy poles and storm web tapes along with the Outwell wind stabilizer system, which gives the awning properly secured stability during Force 10 storms.
