A holiday park in Fife is set to receive a £500,000 investment as its owners move forward with an expansion project aimed at increasing accommodation capacity and ownership opportunities.
Largo Leisure Holidays, which operates six holiday parks across Scotland, announced plans to expand Sauchope Links Holiday Park in Crail by adding eight new plots along the edge of the existing park. The new development will include a mix of luxury holiday lodges and holiday homes designed for private ownership.
According to the company, the project represents the latest phase of investment at Sauchope Links, a holiday park located in Scotland’s East Neuk coastal region. The expansion is intended to meet ongoing demand for high-quality holiday accommodation and holiday home ownership in coastal destinations.
Rachel Mabbs, commercial director, told FifeToday: “This new development at Sauchope Links gives people the opportunity to enjoy a luxury holiday retreat in one of Scotland’s most scenic seaside settings.
“We’ve intentionally designed these plots to feel tucked away and exclusive, creating a peaceful retreat while still being connected to everything that makes Sauchope Links so popular.”
The company has not announced a timeline for completion or opening dates for the new plots. However, the investment signals continued confidence in the domestic tourism sector and the long-term appeal of holiday home ownership within the UK.
The expansion comes as the staycation market continues to play an important role in the hospitality and tourism industry. In recent years, many operators have invested in upgraded accommodations, premium lodging options, and ownership models designed to attract guests seeking flexible vacation experiences closer to home.
For outdoor hospitality professionals, the Sauchope Links project highlights several trends shaping the market. Demand for premium accommodations remains a key driver of investment, particularly in destinations that combine natural scenery with convenient access to local attractions.
The addition of a relatively small number of plots also reflects a strategy increasingly used by park operators: focusing on higher-value accommodations rather than large-scale expansion. This approach can help maximize revenue per site while preserving the character and guest experience of an existing park.
The investment may also illustrate the continued importance of holiday home ownership programs as operators look to diversify revenue streams beyond traditional short-term stays.
As competition for domestic tourism spending continues, developments that emphasize location, exclusivity, and quality accommodations remain a common feature of investment strategies across the holiday park and outdoor hospitality sectors.
No specific construction milestones or launch dates have been publicly announced for the expansion. The project was announced as part of Largo Leisure Holidays’ ongoing investment in its portfolio of Scottish holiday parks.
