Saskatchewan Provincial Parks to Host Exciting Summer Events Lineup for July, August

Saskatchewan’s provincial parks will host an exciting summer filled with diverse activities and events from July and August. Visitors can enjoy a range of experiences, from musical performances to cultural exhibitions, all while immersing themselves in the province’s natural beauty.

One of the highlights is the return of SaskExpress to the parks with their latest musical showcase, “Frequency Quest.” This performance will tour several provincial parks, including Saskatchewan Landing on July 12, Crooked Lake on July 13, and Echo Valley on July 14.

What makes the SaskExpress performances unique is the interactive element. Visitors can join cast members for a pre-show workshop, learning a song and dance to perform during the evening show.

Another highlight is Blackstrap Provincial Park, which offers a beach, boat launch, and camping facilities. According to a press release, the park will host the Luau at the Lake event on July 13.

From noon to 9 p.m., visitors can enjoy live Caribbean music, pirate treasure hunts, refreshing drinks, a pulled pork bar, and various activities suitable for all ages. Additionally, visitors can extend their stay to enjoy biking, fishing, and exploring the natural surroundings.

Fort Carlton Provincial Historic Park, which holds significant historical value, plays an important role in First Nations history and serves as an important educational site. The park features reconstructed buildings, including a palisade, fur and provisions store, trade store, clerks’ quarters, and a tepee encampment.

On July 13, the park will host the Trade Days event, providing a unique opportunity to step back in time. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., park interpreters will guide visitors through the daily lives of fur trappers and traders, offering a glimpse into Saskatchewan’s rich historical past.

In addition, Candle Lake Provincial Park will host Gator’s Waterfest, presented by Gator’s Grub, at Fisher Creek on August 3 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Guests can enjoy an afternoon of live music from The Project, Mason Lewis, Nic Aiken, and Aiden Edwards.

Cannington Manor Provincial Historic Park will feature the Cannington Fair on August 4, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities, including afternoon tea and treats, special animal guests, classic picnic games like the egg and spoon race, and hand-churned ice cream.
