Family-Friendly Halloween Event Returns to Nickle Lake Regional Park

Nickle Lake Regional Park is gearing up for its annual “Halloween in the Park” event, set to take place on Saturday, August 10. This event promises a day full of fun, with activities designed to engage families and visitors.

One of the highlights of the event is the campsite decorating contest, where participants can showcase their creativity. Judging will occur between 1 and 3 p.m., with prizes awarded for the top three decorated sites. The park office is accepting prize donations from the community to support this friendly competition.

For the younger attendees, the Beavers Den will host haunted crafts from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., offering a spooky start to the day. Later in the evening, trick-or-treating will take place throughout the park from 6 to 8 p.m., with a map of participating sites available for pickup at the office. 

According to an article published by Sask Today, park residents interested in handing out treats are encouraged to register and pick up a balloon to mark their site.

In addition to the campsite decorating contest, the festivities continue with a costume contest at 8 p.m., also held at the Beavers Den. The first 250 children to participate will receive a candy bag. Prizes will be awarded in various categories, including scariest, best, and most creative costumes. 

The evening will culminate in a screening of “Hotel Transylvania: Transformania” at 9:15 p.m., rounding off the day’s activities with a family-friendly film. 

According to its website, Nickle Lake Regional Park, nestled along the shores of Nickle Lake and the Souris River, offers a retreat for outdoor enthusiasts. The park’s playgrounds provide entertainment for young visitors, while shelters and benches along the shoreline are 

The park accommodates a range of camping needs, from basic tent sites to full-service 50-amp spots, all equipped with tables, fire pits, and potable water hookups. For convenience, five washroom facilities are located throughout the park.

For those interested in boating and fishing, Nickle Lake offers opportunities. The park features two boat launch areas and a floating dock, making it easy to load and unload passengers. 

Designated fishing areas along the shore and docks are stocked with walleye, perch, and pike.
