Éco-Odyssée Nature Park Receives Funding From Canadian Gov’t

In a bid to boost economic development in the regions of Quebec (Canada), Honourable Pascale St-Onge, Member of Parliament for Brome-Missisquoi, Minister of Sport, and Minister responsible for CED, announced a CA$100,000 non-repayable donation for Éco-Odyssée Nature Park.

According to a press release, the funding provided through the Tourism Relief Fund was granted to mitigate the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. It will enable the business to enhance its tourism product by making changes and, at the same time, adopting eco-friendly measures.

Éco-Odyssée will be able to purchase the equipment needed for its Eco-Noctura activity that includes the immersive light projection show and an illuminated trail across the maze. CED’s support will be used to pay for setting up the reception infrastructure.

Éco-Odyssée is a nature park comprised of a water maze with 64 intersections spread across 5 km, where visitors can explore the diverse nature of the marsh by pedal canoe, pedal boat, or paddleboard. The park also offers accommodation facilities.

The tourism industry—a major factor in the Canadian economy, has been severely affected by the health crisis.

Since the onset of the pandemic, the Government of Canada has put in place various strategies to assist businesses struggling with COVID-19.

Launched in July 2021, the Tourism Relief Fund was created specifically to assist tourism companies and other organizations in providing new products and services for visitors and ensuring that they are ready to welcome tourists from abroad.

“The Canadian tourism sector continues to be one of the most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. We are fully committed to supporting the sector through these challenging times, keeping safety as the top priority while ensuring businesses get support to quickly recover and thrive. The Tourism Relief Fund will help businesses adapt, make improvements and be ready to welcome back guests. It also feeds into a broader strategy to help the sector withstand the pandemic, recover and eventually grow. The Canadian economy will not fully recover until our tourism sector recovers,” Honourable Randy Boissonnault, minister of Tourism and associate minister of Finance said.
