Springwater Provincial Park Illuminates the Holiday Season with Christmas Light Show

As the holiday season approaches, Springwater Provincial Park (Ontario, Canada) is gearing up to transform into a winter wonderland. The park is set to host the Magic of Lights event for the second year, offering a unique 2-kilometre drive-thru Christmas light experience.

The Magic of Lights, which begins on November 17 and runs until January 6, promises to be a visual spectacle, a CTV News report highlighted.

According to Doug Macleod, the construction manager for this year’s event, the park will undergo a nightly transformation. “At night, it transforms…it’s Christmas magic,” Macleod said. “The way we set them out tells a story. I think that most people get engaged with it!”

This year’s show is particularly notable for its scale and creativity. Approximately 95,000 lights have been meticulously tested and arranged to create seven themed modules. Among these, the ‘Twas the Night’ experience is a new addition, expected to captivate visitors with its narrative-driven design.

In a departure from last year’s format, the 2022 event introduces a walk-through Christmas village. This addition not only enhances the visual experience but also supports local vendors who will offer treats and crafts towards the journey’s end.

The preparation for this grand event began in October. The park, which also hosted the unique BooEvil haunted house experience during Halloween, has been a hive of activity. Teams have worked diligently to ensure that the Magic of Lights meets its launch deadline.

Last year, the event drew an average of 1,000 cars per night, indicating its popularity and potential for even greater attendance this year. Such events are significant for the campground and outdoor hospitality industry, as they attract visitors to local parks, boosting tourism and local economies.

For campground and RV park owners, events like the Magic of Lights serve as a model for attracting visitors during the off-peak season. By hosting similar events, campground operators can extend their season, diversify their offerings, and create new revenue streams.

Outdoor hospitality operators can also leverage these events to enhance their guests’ experience. Providing information about local attractions like the Magic of Lights can improve guest satisfaction and encourage longer stays.
