Lakeview Motel & Resort in Haliburton unveiled a unique accommodation option, a luxurious geodesic dome structure. The 15-foot by 22-foot dome, constructed by Geodomes Canada in Hamilton, provides views of Grass Lake and the surrounding hardwood forest.
Guests are welcomed with a personalized charcuterie board. The dome’s interior features a king-sized bed, full washroom, kitchenette, and breakfast bar. Large polycarbonate windows allow for unobstructed views, enabling visitors to observe wildlife and stargaze from the comfort of their beds.
Guests can also enjoy a private deck equipped with a hot tub, BBQ, fire pit, lounge area, and hammocks.
Jagdish Shrimali, chairman of Lakeview Motel & Resort, led the project with a vision to create an accommodation option. According to an article published by The Highlander, Harsha Manani, co-owner of the resort, explained, “Our chairman, Jagdish Shrimali, had a vision to build a treehouse or something similar, he wanted to do something unique… something that places us on the map for unique accommodation experiences. The Dome is not just a glamping idea, but a luxurious, tranquil, peaceful place under the night sky.”
The dome’s construction involved collaboration with various Haliburton-based companies, highlighting the resort’s commitment to supporting local businesses. Manani emphasized this commitment, stating, “We all live in the community together so we should all support each other. Support local all the way, this will always be our motto.”
Shrimali described the experience the dome offers: “As a family that has nurtured this property, we’ve witnessed firsthand the transformative effect of spending time in nature. We wanted everyone to have the opportunity to detach from the bustle of daily life and provide a sanctuary for personal growth and rejuvenation.”
With bookings now open, the owners have expressed their enthusiasm for the finished product. Manani noted, “It’s what we envisioned and more… we are thrilled to expand our resort with this unique building.”
