Maritime Fun Group is set to expand its portfolio with the transformation of the Cavendish KOA Holiday into a Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp-Resort. The announcement, made by Maritime Fun Group President Matthew Jelley, confirmed that the revamped campground will reopen before Victoria Day on May 19. This marks the company’s second Jellystone Park location and reinforces its commitment to family-friendly attractions across Canada.
Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts locations are known for delivering unique experiences featuring Yogi Bear characters, family-focused activities, and glamping accommodations. The franchise, which partners with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences, boasts over 75 locations in the United States and Canada. The Cavendish location joins a network of Canadian Jellystone Parks in Niagara Falls, Lower Woodstock, Annapolis Valley, and Pouch Cove.
According to a press release, Maritime Fun Group has operated a Jellystone Park in Woodstock, New Brunswick, since April and sees the Cavendish location as a natural fit for its brand. Cavendish is a family destination on Prince Edward Island, and Jelley believes the Jellystone Park model will resonate with visitors.
“Seeing the kids line up for the wagon rides with Yogi Bear our first night of the season was enough to convince me of the merits of having our Cavendish campground become a Jellystone Park,” Jelley said, citing the excitement and fascination he witnessed.
The transition of the Cavendish campground is part of a broader vision by Maritime Fun Group to enhance its offerings for families. Jelley, who co-founded the company in 1999 alongside his brothers Peter, Mark, and John, and business partner Adam Hickey, emphasized the company’s focus on delivering memorable experiences.
Preparations for the Cavendish campground’s transition began with a series of upgrades aimed at improving the guest experience. Over the past year, Maritime Fun Group has invested in infrastructure updates, including roads, electrical services, and water systems. Additional improvements include an upgraded laundry room, an arcade, and the creation of a new community fire area.
The park’s amenities will also feature a range of attractions to appeal to guests of all ages. Visitors can look forward to a swimming pool, jumping pillow, petting zoo, and an RC track where remote-controlled vehicles can be raced or rented on-site. Walking and biking trails and a large playground are also part of the offerings.
As a Jellystone Park, the Cavendish campground will offer signature activities such as wagon rides and costumed character events.
