In a recent meeting, the Fraser Valley Regional District (FVRD) board opted not to proceed with the second and third readings of a development application for a new RV campground north of Hope, instead referring it back to staff for further review.
According to a Fraser Valley Today report, Nav Sidhu, the applicant behind the proposed project, has set sights on a 9.3-hectare (23-acre) site at 26793 Dogwood Valley Lane. The planned development, situated just off Highway 1 in the Fraser Canyon, includes 47 RV sites designed to bolster the region’s camping infrastructure.
Sidhu’s initiative stems from a noted lack of campground availability during the peak summer months. Observations of consistently booked sites at popular destinations like Cultus Lake and the Chilliwack River Valley underline the pressing need for additional RV accommodations. The new campground aims to address this shortage, offering an alternative to the saturated BC Parks system, which requires reservations up to four months in advance.
The project proposal details the establishment of 47 RV sites along with three park model trailer sites, complemented by necessary amenities such as a washroom and shower building. These facilities aim to enhance the camping experience, providing modern conveniences to travelers in the scenic Fraser Canyon.
Ownership of the proposed campground site is traced to 0827674 BC Ltd., with Navdeep Sidhu listed as the proprietor. This connection underscores a personal investment in the venture, suggesting a commitment to quality and community service in the outdoor hospitality sector.
