BCLCA Invites Members to Attend Webinar, Town Hall Cracker Barrel to Discuss Operating in 2022

The BC Lodging and Campgrounds Association (BCLCA) will be holding a webinar and town hall cracker barrel on March 16 to discuss operating in 2022.

The virtual event will begin at 10:00 AM Vancouver time and the association is inviting its members to participate.

The webinar will feature the results of the BCLCA 2021 Occupancy and Rate Survey with Liddie Sorensen-Lawrence, MBA, CAIP from Align Consulting, to be followed by Kimo Linders, En Route Travel Canada, talking about Re-capturing International RV Rental Business.

In going over the BCLCA 2021 Occupancy and Rate Survey, Liddie Sorensen-Lawrence will talk about how the research provides insights into the 2021 performance compared to 2020 and some thoughts on the pace of reservations expected this year.

The findings reveal current cancellation policies, use of lock fees, and website usage. BCLCA members attending this session can gain an overview of the industry’s performance and learn strategies that may benefit their property.

During the second session titled “Re-capturing International RV Rental Business”, Kimo Linders will provide understanding of who international travelers are, where they originate, how far in advance they book, how long they stay, and why they tend not to cancel bookings.

Linders will dive deep into booking trends this year compared to 2019.

Moreover, he will share the process involved in renting an RV, addressing questions like “how do international travelers know where to rent an RV?” and “how does a German guest end up in Lac la Hache?”.

Linders will also touch base on the seasonality of RV rental bookings, availability, and the role of the RV rental price and demographics in booking patterns.

An interactive town hall cracker barrel will take place after the webinar. The 30-minute question-and-answer will be spearheaded by Jamie Cox, BCLCA President, who, along with other directors, will answer operational questions.  During this portion, operators can raise their hands to ask questions and chime in with answers or comments to elaborate on topics.

BCLCA members who have questions in advance of the educational sessions may share them with [email protected].

Even though the webinar is free, the provincial association is encouraging its members to register in advance. After registering, members will receive an email confirmation containing information about joining the webinar/town hall. A reminder email will be sent a week before and one day before the webinar.
