BCLCA Invites Member Campgrounds to Assess Level of Accessibility

British Columbia Lodging & Campgrounds Association (BCLCA), in partnership with Destination BC, is paving the way for British Columbia’s (Canada) outdoor hospitality and tourism industry to be more accessible and inclusive.

“BCLCA has been approached by Destination BC to help support the development and improvement of accessible tourism products, services, and activities in BC to ensure every person can participate,” BCLCA’s newsletter reads.

Campgrounds, RV parks, and other tourism businesses can now list their accessibility features to HelloBC.com–a one-stop shop for all accessible and inclusive BC getaway options.

Destination BC has organized accessibility attributes into five categories namely mobility, vision, hearing, cognitive, and general.

BCLCA aims to have all its member campgrounds, RV parks, and lodging measure their existing accessibility features and added on HelloBC.com

Destination BC put up a checklist where businesses can self-assess their level of accessibility to be part of the listing.

“Accessibility attributes indicate whether your business’ parking, entrance, public spaces, elevator, services, and programs are accessible for people with mobility needs, visual and/or hearing requirements, or for people with diverse cognitive or sensory abilities,” the checklist indicates.
