Westerner Park has taken over the management of Westerner Campground as of February 1. The transition aims to maintain high service standards while ensuring a seamless experience for visitors and patrons.
The move follows years of management by Chris Demers and the late Craig Maisley, whose efforts helped establish the campground as a destination. Westerner Park expressed gratitude for their contributions and the solid foundation they built.
“We are committed to maintaining the quality and care that guests expect while building on the campground’s strengths for its ongoing success,” Shelly Flint, chief executive Officer of Westerner Park, said in a press release.
To ensure minimal disruptions during the transition, Westerner Park has developed a plan emphasizing open communication with patrons and operational continuity. The organization is also exploring future enhancements to the campground’s amenities and services.
“Our goal is to provide exceptional service while preserving the campground’s role as a valued community asset and welcoming destination for travelers,” Flint added.
Plans include measures to maintain a safe and well-maintained environment, reinforcing the campground’s position as an integral part of the visitor experience in Central Alberta.
Westerner Park, which serves as Central Alberta’s largest venue for tradeshows, agricultural events, sports, entertainment, and conventions, sees this transition as a strategic step in its continued growth.
The organization is a not-for-profit agricultural society that generates approximately $150 million in annual economic activity.
Each year, Westerner Park hosts more than 1,000 events and welcomes 1.5 million visitors.
The campground has long played a role in accommodating these visitors, offering convenient access to Westerner Park’s major events and facilities.
