Sandy Point Resort & RV Park Sees Expansion with Additional 275 Lots

Sandy Point Resort & RV Park on Gull Lake (Alberta, Canada) has been granted a 275-site campground expansion.

As per a report, the expansion was approved by Lacombe County’s municipal planning committee on Thursday and will double the area to 550 seasonally leased stalls.

The developer Delta Land Co. also plans to construct an 11,050-square foot indoor recreation and community facility to hold weddings, family gatherings, and campground functions. There will be spaces to play pickleball or soccer and an archery range.

The expansion, to be constructed through three separate phases, is set on 56 acres north of the existing campground and west of Sandy Point Beach.

June Norvila, whose property is located adjacent to the development, has expressed concerns about the negative impact on the environment that comes with a campground of this size.

The area is a habitat for many animals and birds, and Norvila is concerned that wildlife corridors will be affected.

Norvila told the municipal planning commission that the natural environment has already been destroyed by the development that has already happened in the area.

The planning commission agreed to add a condition to the approval requiring the developers to put a chain-link fence along the property line between the campground and Norvila’s land.

According to its Facebook page, Sandy Point Resort & RV Park is a year-round lakeside resort featuring large lots and a golf course under construction.
