Saddle Hills County Announces Campground Opening Dates For Upcoming Camping Season

Saddle Hills County in Alberta has officially announced the opening dates for its campgrounds for the 2024 camping season, marking a period of excitement and anticipation for outdoor enthusiasts. The campgrounds at Cotillion Park, Hilltop Lake, and Spring Lake are set to welcome visitors starting May 10, offering a variety of natural landscapes and recreational activities designed to cater to a wide range of preferences.

Cotillion Park, a favored destination located along the Peace River, will open its gates from May 10 to October 15. The park offers rugged sandstone cliffs, expansive parkland forests, and a diverse array of wildlife. Visitors can engage in activities such as fishing, boating, hiking, and ATV riding. It also features a sheltered group-use area with amenities including a fire pit, washrooms, showers, and a playground.

The campground at Cotillion Park is equipped with 20 overnight stalls that include parking spaces, fire pits, and picnic tables. For those seeking convenience, powered sites are available, and guests are provided with free firewood. Reservations opened on February 5, indicating a high demand for this picturesque location.

Hilltop Lake Campground, set to open from May 10 until October 31, offers a serene escape with its secluded environment. It is an ideal spot for paddleboarding, sunbathing, and engaging in various water sports. The campground is equipped with 10 back-in camping stalls, ensuring privacy amidst natural forest canopies. It is pet-friendly and provides free firewood for guests. The Day Use Area, accessible year-round, includes an open shelter, fire pits, picnic tables, and a playground, making it suitable for family gatherings.

Meanwhile, Spring Lake Campground, opening from May 10 until September 29, is renowned for its fishing opportunities. The area supports year-round fishing, including ice fishing events in the winter. Trails around the lake are suitable for cross-country skiing or snowshoeing.

Reservations for Hilltop Lake and Spring Lake Campgrounds will open on March 6. Prospective visitors are encouraged to plan their trips in advance and can make reservations through the dedicated website, www.campreservations.ca.
