Parks Canada Prepares Jasper National Park Winter Trails

As Alberta and other parts of Canada welcome the winter season, the Parks Canada team continuously works to get the Jasper National Park trails ready.

“This first big snowfall has the Parks Canada team working hard to get the trails in Jasper National Park ready for winter use,” Jasper National Park posted on its Facebook page.

In the post, Jasper National Park urged parkgoers to refrain from using some trails prior to December 15 and urged them to explore other areas of the park.

“While it may be tempting to get out there for your favorite winter activity, we ask that winter users refrain from using the trails at Whirlpool Winter Hub, Marmot Meadows Winter Hub, Pyramid Fire Road, and Wabasso Campground prior to December 15. This will help build a solid base required for a long grooming season,” the post indicated.

As per Parks Canada’s website, Jasper features stunning sites and offers memorable experiences to park visitors. Outdoor enthusiasts can explore backcountry locations, alpine day hikes, adrenaline-pumping mountain biking, and great paddling.

During the winter season, visitors can enjoy various recreation activities, including snowshoeing, skiing on groomed trails, fat biking, skating, and more.

Jasper also reminded parkgoers to drive with caution and prepare before heading out to parks. They reiterated that visitors must check the weather forecast and come prepared with appropriate clothing and footwear, and ensuring vehicles have winter tires.

Popular spots popular within Jasper include Maligne Canyon, Maligne Lake, Pyramid Island, Athabasca Falls, and Sunwapta Falls

Frontcountry camping at Wapiti started on October 10, 2022, until May 17, 2023. Wapiti Winter Campground features 40 electrical RV / Trailer sites. Meanwhile, Whirlpool Winter Hub offers winter camping opportunities from November 1, 2022, to March 15, 2023. Whirlpool features RV and tent sites, a cooking shelter, firewood, and pit toilets.
