The Town of Sylvan Lake announced the opening of a new campground at Pogadl Park, which will welcome visitors starting July 12. Reservations for the campground are available beginning July 2.
This campground is part of the third development phase at Pogadl Park. It offers a variety of sites, including 10 sites with power and sewer, 32 sites with power only, and four sites specifically for tents without power, water, or sewer.
Another aspect of the campground includes several amenities. It features a free shower house and two indoor washroom facilities, ensuring a satisfactory stay.
Each site has picnic tables and fire pits to enhance the camping experience. For added convenience, a camp store will be available, selling firewood and ice.
According to a press release, the new campground is expected to support local events and organizations, including the Sylvan Lake Gulls. Visitors attending home games and other events at Pogadl Park will now have close accommodations, facilitating local activities.
Beyond the amenities, the campground’s opening will create jobs and generate revenue, which can be reinvested into the town for future improvements and additional opportunities. This development benefits the local economy, as visitors will likely support retail businesses and other services in Sylvan Lake.
Environmental initiatives are also a key part of this development. The town is partnering with Tree Canada’s Community Tree Grants program to plant 670 trees, shrubs, and other greenery at Pogadl Park. This $10,000 grant-funded project will enhance the park’s landscaping and contribute to a greener future for the community.
Visit Sylvan Lake emphasized the opportunities to rediscover the joy of home with a staycation near the lake.
“Rediscover the joy of home with a staycation. Take yourself out for a treat, do that thing you’ve been meaning to do, or simply do nothing but bask in the beauty of Sylvan Lake,” Visit Sylvan Lake indicated in a Facebook post.
