George Lane Memorial Park Campground Trees Damaged by Wind

George Lane Memorial Park (Alberta, Canada) was hit hard by the strong, gusting wind that swept through the area on Tuesday.

As per a report, broken branches litter the ground across the park and the campground.

As a precaution, campers were asked to relocate to the parking lot of the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex yesterday.

Campground Manager Darlene Wilms said that the barriers remain in place at the campground, but they’re hoping to open up this afternoon.

“So far, it is still up at the entrance, alright. That is because the arborist is in here removing some of the trees that fell down and trimming them… so they don’t want no traffic here in the park or in the campground.

Wilms said the campground was fine, but a tree came down in the park.

“One big one out in the park by site C there by the canteen in that area, one came down. And just some branches fell down here in our campground.”

According to its website, George Lane Memorial Park has 57 individual, roomy pull-through and back-in campsites, each with 15 and 30 amp power, a fire pit, and a picnic table.

The washrooms are well maintained with free, very clean showers. Potable water and a free sani-dump are available within the campground and adjoining park, it also has a free Wi-Fi hotspot.

Isn’t it interesting to think about the campground manager assessing the tree damage and planning restoration? It’s cool that visitors can stay in the loop through the park’s channels. Keeping everyone safe and informed makes the outdoor experience even better, right?
