About AU$1.53 is added to the gross domestic product (GDP) of Australia for every AU$1 received by a caravan park, that’s according to BDO’s latest data revealed during the 2022 National Caravan Conference of the Caravan Industry Association of Australia.
BDO’s study further reveals that each dollar received by a caravan park helps support 12 full-time jobs. BDO Australia Economist Jasmine Douglas presented the latest research from the public accounting, tax, and advisory firms network.
Michelle Weston, the Chief Executive Officer of Caravan Parks Association of Queensland (CPAQ), found the latest research “very exciting to hear”.
“While those of us in the caravan park sector have always known that the industry is a strong regional employer and contributor to local economies, it is great to have this data to accurately showcase the importance of our sector to Regional Queensland,” Weston stated in a LinkedIn post.
According to the Caravan Industry Association of Australia’s website, the caravanning and camping industry generates about AU$19.02 billion for the Australian economy every year. The sector also has 53,000 direct employees in the country.
Caravan Industry Association of Australia operates as a non-profit organization whose members include individual state caravanning and camping associations, which it collaborates with on matters concerning Australia’s caravanning and camping industry. Moreover, the association represents over 3,500 businesses across the entire supply chain.
Caravan Parks Association of Queensland (CPAQ) represents caravan park owners and operators and the associated supply chain in Queensland.
