The RV Dealers Association (RVDA) will host an education session on dealership succession, business valuation and sale planning Nov. 10 during the 2026 RV Dealers Convention/Expo, bringing together industry and financial professionals to discuss strategies for preparing RV dealerships for ownership transitions.
The session, titled “A Once-in-a-Lifetime Deal: Succession, Sale, and Long-Term Planning,” will examine factors affecting dealership value, buyer expectations, sale timing and the financial considerations involved in transferring ownership.
Panelists include Jesse Stopnitzky, co-owner and director of the RV Division at Performance Brokerage Services; Brad Stanek, financial advisor and executive director of The Stanek-Haack Group at Morgan Stanley; and Brandon Bretz, president of Bretz RV & Marine, who has more than 30 years of experience in RV retailing.
The discussion will address how dealership owners can determine their businesses’ market value, position their operations to attract qualified buyers and avoid mistakes that could reduce sale proceeds.
Panelists also will examine what prospective buyers prioritize in dealership acquisitions and how owners can prepare their businesses ahead of a potential transaction.
The session’s learning objectives include identifying the factors that influence dealership valuations and strategies for increasing business worth before a sale.
Participants also will examine how to differentiate their dealerships in a competitive buyer market and evaluate market conditions when determining an appropriate time to sell.
Financial planning will be another focus, including the tax implications of a dealership sale and calculating net proceeds. The session is designed to help owners assess how a transaction could affect their long-term financial security and prepare for the financial outcome of an ownership transition.
The session is part of the 2026 RV Dealers Convention/Expo, scheduled for Nov. 9-13 at Paris Las Vegas. The annual industry event is sponsored by RVDA of the United States, RVDA of Canada and the Mike Molino RV Learning Center.
