Fall camping reservations are now open at Saskatchewan Provincial Parks, with campsites available for stays through the end of October at participating locations. The extended season gives campground operators and park visitors an opportunity to continue camping after the traditional summer period, although services and amenities will become more limited as the season progresses.
“Spending time in our provincial parks during the fall offers a boost to your wellbeing,” Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Alana Ross said. “With fewer crowds and beautiful fall colours, residents can unwind, recharge, and enjoy the best of the season in the parks.”
Through the end of September, many provincial parks will continue to provide amenities such as electricity and water. Camping will remain available at a number of locations in October, when visitors can experience fall foliage and generally quieter campgrounds. However, service levels will be reduced, and the amenities available at individual campsites may vary.
Saskatchewan Parks advises campers to check the reservation website before booking, as each campsite listing will identify whether electricity, water, toilets, or other services are available during the fall operating period, according to Last Mountain Times.
In October, online campsite reservations will be available at 11 provincial parks: Blackstrap Provincial Park, Buffalo Pound Provincial Park, Duck Mountain Provincial Park, Echo Valley Provincial Park, Good Spirit Lake Provincial Park, Great Blue Heron Provincial Park through October 12, Greenwater Lake Provincial Park, Moose Mountain Provincial Park, Pike Lake Provincial Park, Rowan’s Ravine Provincial Park, and Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park.
The fall season also includes continued availability of Camp-Easy Yurts at Buffalo Pound, Douglas, Duck Mountain, Echo Valley, Good Spirit Lake, Greenwater Lake, and Rowan’s Ravine provincial parks.
The yurts accommodate up to six people and include camp chairs, a fire pit, picnic table, outdoor dining shelter, refrigerator, ceiling fan, space heater, camp stove or barbecue with propane, roasting sticks, wash bin, and axe. Rates for the yurts differ from standard campsite rates, with current pricing and availability provided through the reservation system.
For operators and campground businesses planning extended-season offerings, Saskatchewan’s approach illustrates how adjusting services and pricing can support demand beyond the peak summer period.
The province is maintaining camping opportunities into October while reducing nightly rates to reflect the lower level of services available. Regular nightly camping rates apply throughout September, while reduced rates begin October 1. From that date, electric sites will cost $31 per night, while non-electric sites will cost $16 per night.
The fall camping period also highlights the importance of clearly communicating seasonal service changes to guests.
