Coachmen RV, a division of Forest River, has launched the Remote 8 Wide Series, expanding the brand’s lineup with three floorplans focused on increased space, off-grid capability and towability.
The new series, which arrives in September 2026, includes the 198RBC, 228RBH and 238RRB. The lineup builds on Coachmen Remote’s 7 Wide Series while adding a larger footprint, increased ground clearance, enhanced off-grid systems and additional storage solutions.
The Remote 8 Wide is designed for couples, young families and campers seeking to leave traditional campground hookups behind, according to the company. The series is positioned as an alternative to specialized expedition trailers, with an emphasis on maintaining lightweight towability and attainable pricing.
“Remote was created around a simple idea: you shouldn’t need an oversized or overpriced RV to get away from the expected,” said Andy Brock, general manager of Coachmen Remote.
“The 8 Wide takes that idea to the next level. It gives our customers more space, more functionality and a much more rugged look while staying focused on the things that really matter when you are out camping,” Brock added.
The series introduces a more aggressive exterior design intended to reflect its rugged positioning. The trailers also combine durable construction with off-grid systems and practical storage features, according to the announcement.
Remote originally launched as a sub-brand of Coachmen Apex before becoming a standalone division in 2025 with the introduction of the 7 Wide Series. The brand has since focused on lightweight towability, off-grid capability, design and pricing.
The 8 Wide Series expands that approach while adding three floorplans to the Remote product lineup. The series is intended to provide additional space and functionality without requiring customers to take on a larger trailer.
“Remote is not about being the most extreme trailer on the market,” Brock added. “It is about making it easier for more people to go farther. The 8 Wide gives campers the performance and features they’ve been asking for without requiring them to take on more trailer than they need.”
