Mandai Wildlife Reserve has expanded its overnight accommodation offerings with the launch of Crocodile Lodge, a new glamping experience located within the Rainforest Wild Adventure East zone in Singapore. Public stays at the lodge began on June 12, with prices starting at S$550 for a two-day, one-night package for two guests. The minimum participation age is three years old.
The launch follows the introduction of Colugo Camp in 2025, which has since been renamed Reservoir Retreat, making Crocodile Lodge the reserve’s second glamping product as the destination continues to diversify its visitor experiences.
The all-inclusive accommodation is situated within an African-themed environment and includes overnight lodging, meals, guided activities, and access to attractions within the wildlife park. Guests check in at the Rainforest Wild Adventure East zone, where luggage is transported directly to their tents and wristbands provide access to the experience, including priority entry to selected attractions.
The accommodation consists of canvas-style safari tents designed to blend into the surrounding landscape. Each tent is equipped with air conditioning, Wi-Fi connectivity, power outlets, and outdoor viewing areas overlooking animal habitats within the reserve. Shared bathroom facilities include family-friendly, wheelchair-accessible, and senior-friendly amenities.
Guests staying at Crocodile Lodge are offered a range of activities that extend beyond traditional camping, according to The Straits Times. Evening programming includes wildlife-themed games, educational workshops, scavenger hunts, and interactive learning sessions for children. Overnight guests also receive access to a guided Ranger Expedition before the park opens to the public, providing opportunities to observe free-roaming wildlife in a quieter environment.
Food and beverage service is included in the package, with buffet-style dinner and breakfast offered at the nearby Ranger’s Retreat restaurant. The experience is designed to combine accommodation, dining, wildlife encounters, and outdoor recreation into a single overnight product.
The development reflects a growing trend among wildlife parks, nature reserves, and outdoor attractions to introduce premium accommodation options that encourage longer visitor stays and generate additional revenue streams.
For operators in the outdoor hospitality, glamping, and resort sectors, the Crocodile Lodge concept demonstrates how experiential lodging can be integrated with existing attractions to create higher-value guest experiences.
By combining accommodations with exclusive access, guided programming, dining, and educational activities, destinations can increase per-guest spending while differentiating themselves in an increasingly competitive leisure market.
The guest experience also highlights an operational consideration that may be relevant for outdoor hospitality businesses: weather dependency. Many of the reserve’s attractions, elevated walkways, and adventure activities are outdoors and may be suspended during periods of heavy rain or lightning for safety reasons. Operators developing similar outdoor accommodation products may benefit from ensuring sufficient indoor programming, sheltered facilities, and contingency activities to maintain guest satisfaction during adverse weather conditions.
Guests are required to remain within the glamping area after the park closes unless accompanied by staff, reflecting the operational and safety requirements associated with overnight stays in active wildlife environments.
With Crocodile Lodge now open to the public, Mandai Wildlife Reserve continues to expand its portfolio of nature-based accommodation experiences, aligning with broader tourism trends that emphasize immersive outdoor stays and wildlife-focused travel experiences.
