The Spinney Wild Camping Named UK’s Top Campsite for 2025

A booking platform has released its annual rankings of top-performing outdoor accommodations across the United Kingdom, highlighting evolving guest preferences in the camping, glamping, and caravan sectors.

Pitchup announced the results of its 2025 Gold Awards, which recognize campsites, glamping locations, and caravan parks across the Great British Isles based on verified customer feedback collected during the year.

To be eligible for consideration, properties were required to achieve an average rating of at least 8 out of 10 and secure a minimum of 20 verified guest reviews in 2025. The criteria are designed to reflect consistent service quality and recent visitor experiences, offering a data-driven snapshot of market performance.

The top honor for 2025 was awarded to The Spinney Wild Camping, located in East Yorkshire, which recorded a perfect 10 out of 10 rating. The site operates as an off-grid, low-capacity campground with space for up to 10 tents, positioning itself within the growing “nearly wild” camping segment.

The absence of outdoor lighting and limited infrastructure reflects a broader consumer trend toward minimal-impact stays and nature-focused experiences.

Amenities at the site include hammocks, fire pits, a hot tub, and a shared garden room, alongside basic facilities such as a compost toilet and running water. Its proximity to a local pub and accessibility to nearby towns such as Pocklington and the city of York may also contribute to its appeal for short-stay visitors.

Other award recipients included Owl Valley Glamping in Devon, which placed second, and The Wee Caravan Park in Ayrshire, Scotland, which ranked third. The geographic spread of winners suggests continued demand for rural and regional destinations across different parts of the UK.

For business owners in the outdoor hospitality, glamping, caravan, and RV industries, the results point to several operational insights. High-performing sites appear to balance simplicity with select comfort features, while maintaining a clear identity and capacity limits that support guest satisfaction.

Verified review thresholds and rating benchmarks also underline the importance of consistent guest experience management and reputation monitoring in digital booking ecosystems.

As consumer demand continues to favor authentic and low-density outdoor stays, operators may find opportunities in refining niche offerings and leveraging guest feedback to inform service improvements.
