The RV Industry Association’s (RVIA) standards inspection program is one of its industry initiatives and is the biggest benefit to members. The standards department has an expert team of full-time inspectors who ensure safety by monitoring the conformance to guidelines set by the board of directors for the building of RVs and park model RVs.
According to RVIA’s News & Insights report, Corey Lee recently joined the team of inspectors that are responsible for more than 2,000 unannounced inspections of member companies’ manufacturing facilities every year.
Lee is reaping experience from doing inspections during his first few weeks on the job. Lee has already taken part in several inspections at local manufacturing facilities and is expected to travel to factories across the U.S. going forward.
“It’s great to see the inspection process and be able to develop a good relationship with our members,” Corey said. “During our visits, we focus on educating the manufacturers to make sure all codes and safety standards are being followed.”
With experience in computers, electrical repair, and mechanical repair, his technical expertise complements his work as a member of the standards team. He gained a large portion of his knowledge from his previous job at Diebold Corporation before eventually deciding that he was ready for changing careers.
“I wanted a different challenge,” he explained. “I was looking for a change, and this seemed like a great opportunity. I’m excited to get going with it.”
Lee said that he is looking forward to having the opportunity to travel across the U.S. “I haven’t done much traveling around the country,” he said. “I’m looking forward to exploring more places when we’re on the road.”
