In recent efforts to regulate unauthorized camping, the Municipalities of Al-Jahra and Al-Ahmadi in Kuwait have intensified their inspections. Today, these teams successfully dismantled a total of 197 non-compliant camps that were set up before the official camping season.
This move is a testament to the Municipality’s commitment to ensuring that camping regulations are adhered to for the safety and well-being of all.
Mohammad Al-Jab’a, the Director of the General Sanitation and Road Works Department in Al-Jahra, played a pivotal role in this operation. Under his leadership, the inspection team identified and cleared 54 unauthorized campsites in the region.
This not only involved the removal of tents but also included the clearing of 11 mobile homes and lorries, particularly in the Salmy area, as reported by the Arab Times Online.
On the other hand, the Al-Ahmadi Governorate wasn’t far behind in its efforts. Nuwaf Al-Mutairi, the Director of the General Sanitation and Road Works Department there, reported the removal of 143 unauthorized campsites.
These were spread across various areas, including Kabad, Sabah Al-Salem, Sha’ibah, Wafra, and Jle’ia, showcasing the widespread nature of this issue.
The Municipality’s actions are not without reason. They have consistently urged citizens to wait for the official camping season, which commences on November 15 and concludes on March 15, 2024.
The emphasis is clear: any camps established before this designated period will face removal. This directive ensures that all campers adhere to the regulations set forth, guaranteeing safety and order.
This isn’t the first time the Municipality has taken such decisive action. Just the previous week, they announced the removal of 175 unauthorized campsites in both Al-Jahra and Al-Ahmadi.
And going further back, in January 2021, 60 illegal camping sites were removed off the Seventh Ring Road. These sites were in direct violation of the Ministry of Health’s ban on camping, a measure taken to prevent gatherings amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Faisal Al-Otaibi, from the Ahmadi Governorate, has been vocal about the Municipality’s stance. He stated that any camping site found violating health restrictions would face immediate removal. This is part of the Municipality’s round-the-clock campaign to ensure that all camping regulations are strictly followed.
