Campgrounds and RV Parks Have Until December 20 for Discounted OHI Music Licensing

According to a recent press release from OHI (formerly National ARVC), the deadline for association members to purchase discounted music licensing for 2024 is approaching much sooner than previous years. The deadline to secure discounted coverage for next year is December 20.

OHI’s discounted licensing program provides campgrounds, RV parks, and other outdoor hospitality businesses an opportunity to purchase required public performance music licenses from all four major performing rights organizations (PROs)—ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, and GMR—in one convenient package at deeply discounted rates up to half off standard prices.

This member-exclusive consolidated music licensing program not only offers the best rates in the industry according to the press release, but also simplifies the licensing process for OHI members to legally and affordably comply with copyright laws.

The licenses grant businesses legal permission to publicly play copyrighted music in their establishments and events while also shielding them from significant penalties and legal action.

The release warns that playing music publicly without proper licensing can lead to serious consequences including damages from $750 up to $150,000 per infringed song if found “willful.”

The discounted licenses cover common music uses like streaming services, satellite radio, cable music channels, DJs, live music performances, karaoke nights, and personal listened to music devices.

OHI member campgrounds, RV parks, and other eligible businesses should log into the OHI member portal as soon as possible and pay the annual music licensing invoices before the earlier-than-usual December 20 deadline. Otherwise, they risk losing access to the discounted 2024 rates.

More details about music licensing requirements, covered uses, and the association’s exclusive discounted program can be found on the OHI website at ohi.org/music

To take advantage of these savings and protect against music copyright penalties, existing OHI members must access their OHI member portal and pay their invoice, while businesses interested in joining OHI to access the program can learn more at OHI.org.

Did you know that getting the discounted music licensing from OHI not only allows campgrounds and RV parks to play copyrighted music legally, but it also contributes to supporting the artists and creators whose music they enjoy? It’s a cool opportunity to ensure compliance while also recognizing the value of the music being played at your establishment. Plus, the reduced rates make it even more appealing!
